ORIGIN & DEVELOPMENT:
The Department of Political Science in Pithapur Raja’s Government College was established in the year 1935. The Department has been working with the objective of producing responsible citizens with an awareness of the spirit of Democracy and the maladies influencing the society by imparting quality education in the field of Political Science.
As the time passed Political Science gained popularity as one of the most favourable subjects among B.A. Students. It is now offered as part of the following combinations;

The Department has produced a galaxy of eminent people who have made a mark of themselves in various walks of life. To name them a few:
Sri G.M.C. Balayogi, former Speaker of Loksabha,
Sri Madduri Annapurnayya, Freedom Fighter and Social Reformer,
Sri Alluri Sitarama Raju, Freedom Fighter,
Sri Prativadi Bhayankarachari, prominent freedom fighter who was sent to the Cellular Jail in Andamans by the British Government.
