History of the Department of Computer Applications

The Department of Computer Applications at Pithapur Rajah’s Government College (Autonomous) was established in 2008, by the introduction of the B.Com(Computer Applications) course as a Restructured Course. Initially, the Computer Applications unit functioned as a wing of the Computer Science. And B.Com(CECS) course was introduced in 2013. The Department was separted from Computer Science in the year 2019. Later in the year 2022 B.Sc(BBCA) was included. With the introduction of Single Major subjects from APSCHE, BSc(Information Technology) was introduced in the year 2023.

Regarding the academic activities, the students are being given .

• Very good teaching and lab facilities
• Regular slip tests and seminars are being conducted.
• Students are continuously assessed by group discussions.
• Discussions and Quiz programs are conducted.
• Regarding academic results, the students of  B.Com(CA) were able to achieve very good results under able guidance of the faculty.
• Some of them are admitted in various PG Courses and other got Employment opportunities.
• Certificate courses were conducted to the students.

Vision:

To impart quality education in theoretical and practical areas of Computer applications by effective Teaching-Learning process and to train the students with latest advancements and Computer Ethics   and transform the students as potential resources contributing to the economy.

• To bridge the gap between industry and academia by framing curricula and syllabi based on industrial and societal needs.
• To equip students with enriched skill set through advanced learning tools, collaborative and interdisciplinary activities.
• To inculcate problem solving and team building skills and promote lifelong learning with a sense of social and ethical responsibility.
