VISION

To make the department a launch pad for students to place them in higher orbit of  knowledge, skills and employment in Physics  domain  through quality teaching, technology integration, scientific research  and innovation  with  focus on logical thinking, experiment-based and problem-solving based  learning  besides making them environmentally and socially conscious.

MISSION

  •  To impart quality education in both theoretical as well as experimental physics.

  •  To  leverage the advantages of ICT tools  to provide rich learning experiences to students

  •  To foster inquisitiveness  and  research culture in domain Physics through projects,

  •  To impart necessary life skills, critical thinking and ethical practices to glorify the lives of the students

About the Department

  • The department of Physics was established in 1884 and Physics was offered as one of the options in    intermediate from 1884 – 1958.

  •  From 1958 onwards Physics was offered as one of the options at under graduate level i.e., in B.Sc. course.

  •  The department has a big block having a plinth area of 2250 Sq.m

  • In the year 2000 the college got the autonomous status. After that different group combinations are being introduced. The student’s strength of the department is increased enormously up to 680 in this year.

  •  A departmental reading room was developed in the department during 2002–2003.

  • All the three physics labs were developed as per our latest syllabus by utilizing UGC and state funds. These labs are provided with oldest equipment to the latest equipment.

  • An Electronics laboratory was erected in the Room No. 25 in the year 2007. All the 3 years Electronics Practical’s are being conducted in this lab.

  • In the year 2009 “Solar power ” was given to this lab with the help of NERDCAP. Now the lab is completely run by the solar power i.e., non-conventional energy and its wattage is 1.2 KW.

  • An Indian Meteorological department was established in the department of physics in the year 2019. Weather forecasts and predictions will be shared all over India from this center.

  • An Innovation lab was developed in this department in the year 2022, to give a better platform for students to provide hands on experience on real time projects and to inculcate research interest among the students
