PITHAPURRAJAH‘SGOVERNMENTCOLLEGE (A),KAKINADA DEPARTMENTOFSANSKRIT DEPARTMENTALPROFILE ThePithapur Rajah’s College is prestigies college and its centenary was celebrated in the year 1983.Even before the centenary was celebration the Department of Sanskrit has its existaence with Two faculty menbers and about for hundred and fifty students .Hear Sanskrit is being taught as a second language .Avadhana Saraswathi Sri Perala Bharatha sarma was the Head of the Department .Famous orater pravachana siromani sreeman sree bhashyam Appalacharyulu a great schaler in Sanskrit was working as a second faculty member.After his retirement ,that vacancy has been filled by Dr.Kalluru Avatara sarma on 19th September 1983 .Then it was a compositecollege college ,with Intermediate course.Later,sri perala Bharatha sharma was promoted to the post of principal, M.R.Govt.Sanskrit College, vViziaya nagaram ,and Dr.T.Sreenivasa Rao wasappointed as a memberof thefaculty .During 1996,the college was bifurcated and theIntermediate classes were shipped to the science college campus . From theacademic year 200-2001 onwardsAutonomy was sanctioned to our college and Dr.Kalluru Avatara saema the enharse of the Department was designated as the chairman for the Board of Studies .As Dr.I.Srinivasa Raotransfered to V.S.Krishna College ,Vishakhapatnam in July 2000 the second post is vacant.  DR hariram prasad ,DEPT of sanskrit(HOD), had 10 years.  Thepresent Head of theDepartment Y.BUJJI working in this college from 2022 October 29th to till date.CBCS (Chioce based credit system) was adopted in the year 2014 .The Department of Sanskrit is working forspecipic mission and goals .It makes efforts for all Development of studies .Educational Institution such as moduler curriculum for all BA,B.Com& B.Sc Groups l,ll&lll Semesters for Sanskrit Second Language . Accordingly the Board of Studies meets every year in the being taken to achieve 100%.Forremediel coaching classes are being conducted .meets every year in the beginning of the academic year and reviews the syllabus and question papers to enhance the academic standards . Morethan 60% of thestudents arefrom rural areas theremaining are from urban environment .Someof thestudents are opting Sanskrit as second language through they have no studied Sanskrit in the previous classes .For those students the department is conducting Bridge course to bring them to the main stream.Socio economic conditions are also having their impact on the standard of the students .Even then efforts are being mode and they are being trained by adopting modern teaching methodologies and Educational technologies by which most of thestudents are getting benified .Average percentage of passes is about 96% andnecessary steps arebeing taken to achieve 100% for this remedial coaching classes are being conducted.
