ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

Department Of Telugu:

  • The Department of Telugu was established in 1931.

  • Maharaja of Pithapuram Late.Shri.R.V.K.M .Surya Rao Bahadura  lover of Telugu language and literature had been the source of inspiration to a number of telugu scholars.

  • SURYA RAYANDRA NIGHANTUVU( 8 volumes –telugu dictionary) is his memorable contribution towards telugu literature.

  • The Department of Telugu has its glorious history ever since its inception in this century old college well known scholars like

  • Devulapalli krishna sastry  

  • Boyi Bheemanna

  •  Avantsa Somasundar hailed from this department.

Vision:

The Department helps students to build the knowledge of the content and methods of literary studies, critical evaluation, academic, professional, and creative writing. To pursue careers in education, research, business, law, government, and publishing. To inculcate necessary ethical and intellectual skills among the students to make their life vibrant and colourful

Mission:

  • To assure that students encounter creativity crucial to Telugu studies through theatre productions, readings by professional writers, and their own creative and critical production and presentation.
  • To balance the needs of general education communication, diversity, global perspectives, interdisciplinary studies
  • To encourage the student participation in service learning and in diverse and international course work and programming.
  • To acquire adequate funding to support the department's contributions to general education and the liberal arts through departmental budgets and hiring.
  • To value faculty scholarship and service through greater support for and participation in activities of the profession.
